The Best Portion

And the Lord said to Aaron, “You priests will receive no allotment of land or share of property among the people of Israel. I am your share and your allotment.”

(Numbers 18:20 NLT)

Even though the priests from the Levi tribe didn’t receive a share in the land like the other tribes, the Lord repeatedly stressed the fact that He would be their share. They were entitled to a share in the offerings and tithes that the people brought, and in serving God at the temple. As God’s priests, believers in Christ today continue to enjoy God’s providence and presence. Now that’s the best portion anyone could ask for!

The Lord is our portion.
