The Protector

The protector of Israel doesn’t doze or ever get drowsy. (Psalm 121:4 CEV)

The archbishop who performed my father’s funeral service shared a personal story that has resonated with me ever since. After his father passed away, God impressed the image of a protective father on him. Knowing that he had been his protector while on earth, his father would never cease to be his protector in heaven. If anything, he now had a father who could provide full protection. I like to think that my father is still watching over me in heaven because he never ceased to be my protector here on earth.

I have a guardian angel in Heaven. I call him Dad.

Protecting His children is what our heavenly Father does best. There’s nothing that happens to us without His full knowledge or consent. I love today’s Scripture which reassures us of God’s constant protection by depicting Him as the Protector who “doesn’t doze or ever get drowsy.” We can trust the heavenly Father because He will never lose sight of us or forsake us. He is always watching, guiding and protecting us.
