See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1 NIV)
Many people came to pay their respects at my father’s funeral. While I recognized some and not others, I remember introducing myself as his daughter. It is with immense pride that I choose to identify with the man who sacrificed a lot in life for me, the man that I was blessed enough to know and call my father.

When I returned from my trip to Israel, my father told me that he loved the keffiyeh, the traditional headpiece that I wore while touring the Holy Land. It’s one that he clearly loved to wear. Like father, like daughter.
As Christians, it’s a great honor to know God as our Father and identify as His children. In fact, that’s how He wants to be known. Jesus taught us to pray to God as “Our Father in heaven” (Matthew 6:9). When we know Him as our Father, we can draw closer to Him. We have the courage to ask Him for things and believe that in His wisdom and love, He won’t withhold anything good from us. As His children, we can let His light shine through us and let the world know who He is so others will also come to know Him as their Father.
