This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says…“in quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15 NIV)

In the busyness and noise of life, we’ve forgotten what it means to trust God patiently and quietly. Just like the Israelites in Isaiah 30, we’re always trying to take matters into our own hands when God doesn’t hurry up and help us when we expect Him to. We make matters worse and end up disappointed. But the secret to victory was never in the doing but in the waiting and trusting. This was the lesson that God was trying to teach His ancient people – and us today – when He said, “in quietness and trust is your strength” (v.15). By now we should know that God still works in silence and when we’re quiet enough, we’ll get a glimpse of what He is up to and our strength will be renewed as we trust Him to work all things out for His glory and our good. Even when we mess up, we’re assured of His tender mercy, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” (v.18). Let’s stop striving and let’s start trusting. He will never fail us!
Prayer: Father, help me to trust You, especially when I can’t see what You’re doing. Thank You for renewing my strength as I wait on You to fulfill Your purpose for my life.
