Born to Heal

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19 NIV)

A woman, who I had never met but whose cancer journey I had followed closely, came to me in a dream not long ago and said, “born to heal.” Unfortunately, she passed away, but I feel as though her impact didn’t end with her death. I believe that we were each born to bring healing to the lives of others, in some way or other.

See, just prior to that dream, I stumbled across this passage from Luke 4:18-19:

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

I remember thinking to myself, What if this Scripture can be true of every one of us? Don’t get me wrong, we will never accomplish exactly what Jesus did because these words were spoken of Him as the Messiah. I’m talking about being born to bring healing in the way we speak and act towards others. In the dark world we live in, we must never forget our calling to shine Christ’s light in the world. Maybe that dream was more of a wake-up call to keep rising with the Son and to inspire others to do the same because we were all born to heal.
