And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV)
It’s easy to believe in God when we can see immediate results. But true faith is what happens when we don’t, and that’s when our faith is rewarded. As Paul puts it, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV). In the natural, it will always seem like nothing is happening, but God is still at work behind the scenes.

Take a good look at the lives of the men and women listed in Hebrews, Chapter 11, and you’ll see why they were praised and rewarded for their faith. They continued to cling to God and His promises against all odds. As the author reminds us at the beginning of the chapter, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). The belief in the existence of a God we can’t see sets the premise for everything else. If we can’t see Him but still believe in Him, we’ve got to believe in the best that is yet to come, even if we can’t see it. So the next time your faith is tested, remember that God is faithful and He will keep His promises, but you’ve got to keep your eyes on Him in order to win the prize.
