The Battle Belongs to God

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 NLT)

Throughout the Scriptures, we’re constantly reminded of the fact that the battle belongs to God and that He fights for us (2 Chronicles 20:15). We’re told to simply trust Him and be still (Exodus 14:14). The truth is, every battle we face is never really directed at us, but Him. From the beginning of time, it’s always been a battle between God and Satan, light and darkness. God’s people, who have been made aware of this truth, enter their battles with the confidence that God will fight for them because it was never their battle to fight. God would fight for them and give them victory. He is a Mighty Warrior.

The Apostle Paul reminds us of this awesome truth in today’s passage when he tells us that our fight was never against people, “but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” But in his letter, John reassures us, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 NIV).

What battle are you facing today? Just know that it’s already been won because it was never yours to face alone. God has gone ahead of you to win it. He wants to show up in your life, and believe me, He has never lost a battle.

The devil wouldn’t be attacking you so hard if there wasn’t something valuable in you. Thieves don’t break into empty houses. -Unknown
