Seek Peace and Pursue It

Seek peace and pursue it. (Psalm 34:14 NIV)

The Hebrew word for peace, “shalom,” means: wholeness, completeness, soundness, health, safety, prosperity, and harmony. And that’s the kind of peace that Jesus promised when He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27). As the Prince of Peace, He assures us of a peace that is unmatched and perfect in every way.

There’s no doubt that in this world, we will have trouble (John 16:33). We will face conflict and chaos. But when we have the peace of Christ, we will enjoy peace from within. No matter what may be going on around us, we can remain calm and hopeful. That’s the kind of peace we should seek and pursue because that’s the kind of peace that is guaranteed. I’m thankful for His peace, and I pray that you will experience it in your own life, too.
