Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. (Micah 7:8 NIV)
For many of us, rising from the ashes is exactly what we were called to do this year. I know I have. Every time it felt as though life was falling apart, I had a reason to look up and rise again. It was the year I learned to trust God completely and know that He had my best interest at heart. My daily prayer this year has been for God to show up in my life, and He has. I don’t know why I’ve had to navigate through the darkness as long as I have, but I know that He’s been with me through it all, leading me into His perfect light and shining it on others in need of it too.

Jesus. He is the light that we need not just in the coming year but in the years to come. My prayer is that no matter what the new year brings, you’ll walk into it with the hopeful expectation that Jesus will be there all the way, leading you to where you need to be. You are not alone. You never were. He’s been there all along, and He’ll be there until the end. May you experience His perfect peace and love in the new year because that’s what it would take for it to be a happy one!
