Overwhelmed But Not Overcome

But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites. (Exodus 1:12 NIV)

We have a choice when we’re under a lot of pressure: we can either crumble or rise above it. What would you do? The Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptians, “but the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied.” Isn’t that amazing? Instead of being overwhelmed, they chose to overcome!

I find myself in a similar place lately. The more overwhelming the situation, the more determined I’m becoming. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” is a true saying. Sometimes, that pressure is needed in order for God to show up and show Himself strong in our lives because we could never overcome anything without Him. The next time you find yourself in an overwhelming situation, remember that through Him, you can overcome!
