I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. (Exodus 6:7 NIV)
The Exodus story has got to be one of the most prominent stories in the Bible, and rightly so. Imagine being delivered in such a mighty way that even your enemies know God Himself is fighting for you (Exodus 14:25). Thankfully, it’s not just a story that we tell, especially at this time of the year. For those of us who have personally witnessed God fight on our behalf, there are moments from the Exodus that we can relate to. From unjust treatment and cruel oppression by a Pharaoh that we never wronged simply because we identify as followers of God, to seeing that Pharaoh get struck by various plagues until they finally give up the fight and let us go so we can worship the God who has called us to walk in freedom. Yeah, it’s got to be more than just an ancient story that happened thousands of years ago.

For the past year, I’ve been walking through my own Exodus journey. I’ve watched as God came to my deliverance time and time again, proving to me that He is fighting my battles for me. All I had to do was trust Him, and He would take care of the rest. After all, did He not promise His people, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14)? The best part is not only looking back and not seeing the enemy anymore (Exodus 14:13), but seeing God as my Deliverer. I want a God who goes to work on my behalf in a mighty way, defending me to the end so that even my opponents know that it’s got to be Him! This Easter, go ahead and celebrate the God who parts waters and makes a way so that you can enter into your Promised Land. It’s your Exodus moment!
