Go to the Tomb

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. (Luke 24:1 NIV)

Visiting the tomb of loved ones brings me comfort. There’s a sense of peace that I get when I stand by their tomb. I know that their spirit lives on. We don’t cease to exist just because we’re no longer on earth. There’s a new and a better life that awaits us in heaven.

That is why I’m glad the women went to the tomb on that first Sunday. Had they not gone, they would have never experienced firsthand the miracle of the resurrection. The tomb of Jesus became proof that those who believe in Him will also rise from the dead. I had the privilege of visiting Jesus’ tomb in Jerusalem a few years ago, so believe me when I say that it strengthened my faith in His resurrection power that is available to all not just someday, but today. We’re meant to rise again no matter what life throws at us. This is what fills my heart with faith and hope as I celebrate His resurrection from the dead today and every day. Happy Resurrection Sunday!
