Thank God for His Indescribable Gift

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15 NIV)

As Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself reflecting on all the blessings in my life—family, friends, health, provision. I’m grateful for each one. But above them all, there’s one gift that surpasses everything else: the gift of Jesus.

The Apostle Paul captured this perfectly when he wrote to the Corinthians. In the context of encouraging generosity, he suddenly erupts in praise: “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” Paul couldn’t help but pause and point everything back to Jesus—the greatest, most indescribable gift of all.

Nothing compares to what God gave us in His Son. Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving. He’s not just a historical figure or seasonal focus—He is everything. My Comforter in sorrow. My Light when the world grows dim. My Peace in the midst of chaos. My Hope when things feel hopeless.

Jesus is why I rise above the storms of life. He’s the reason I get back up when I fall. As Paul said in Acts 17:28, “For in Him we live and move and have our being.” Every breath I take, every step I make—it’s all because of Him.

The beauty of this gift is that we don’t earn it. We don’t work for it. We don’t deserve it. Jesus was freely given. All we have to do is receive Him—with a grateful heart.

This Thanksgiving, as we gather around tables, enjoy good food, and count our blessings, may we remember the greatest blessing of all: Jesus.
