Arise and Shine

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” – Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)

There are seasons in life that feel overwhelmingly dark—moments when hope seems distant and the light hard to find. This was precisely the reality facing God’s people in Isaiah 60. Yet into their darkness, God spoke a promise: His light would shine upon them, lifting them out of despair and enabling them to become a light for the nations. We see the ultimate fulfilment of this promise in Jesus, the One who came as the “Light of the World” (John 8:12). In Him, the darkness cannot overcome us.

We have a choice: we can remain in the shadows, or we can rise and shine. When we embrace the light of God, He leads us out of darkness and into His marvellous light (1 Peter 2:9). And as His light fills us, we begin to live out our calling—to shine with His glory so that others, too, may be drawn to the Light of the World.

Arise. Shine. Your Light has come.
