“I see him, but not here and now.
I perceive him, but far in the distant future.
A star will rise from Jacob;
a scepter will emerge from Israel.”
— Numbers 24:17 (NLT)
Many people rise to stardom, only to fade just as quickly. Like shooting stars, their brilliance is captivating but brief. Yet from ancient times, Scripture foretold the rise of one true Star. This Star would not fade or dim with time, but would endure forever, leading others to the ultimate Light—God Himself.

Years later, the wise men from the east recognized this Star when it appeared in the sky. It was unlike anything they had ever seen or studied before. Its light captured their attention and guided their journey, pointing them to the only One worthy of their worship—Jesus, the King of the Jews. Matthew records:
“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’” — Matthew 2:1–2 (NIV)
What star are you looking to right now? Who—or what—holds your admiration, attention, and devotion? This Christmas, may you lift your eyes and discover the one true Star worthy of your praise and worship—the Babe in the manger, Jesus Christ, the Light of the world.
