The God of the Third Day

“After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.” — Hosea 6:2 (NIV)

Have you ever noticed how often the “third day” appears throughout Scripture? When God asked Abraham to offer Isaac, it was after a three-day journey that they arrived at Mount Moriah (Genesis 22). During the ninth plague in Egypt, a thick darkness covered the land for three days (Exodus 10). Before Esther approached the king, she called for a complete fast—no food or drink—for three days and nights (Esther 4). And then, the greatest moment of all: Jesus rose on the third day, securing for us the promise of new life and resurrection power.

Again and again, Scripture reveals a rhythm: seasons of waiting, moments of darkness, acts of surrender, and days of silence—yet never the final word. In today’s Scripture, the prophet Hosea points us to this same pattern of hope: “After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence” (Hosea 6:2). The third day is coming. What feels like a long and heavy season can be overturned in a moment—because when God steps in, His restoration is swift, even if the waiting was not.

I don’t know what you may be walking through right now—uncertainty, grief, silence, or loss—but one truth echoes through both Scripture and our own lives: God has not forgotten you, and your story is not finished. This Easter, place your hope in the God of the third day—He is rarely early, but never late. He revives. He restores. And He draws us back into His presence.

Wishing you a blessed and joyful Easter. He is risen!
