Controlling the Tongue

Do you want to live and enjoy a long life? Then don’t say cruel things and don’t tell lies.

(Psalm 34:12-13 CEV)

Oftentimes, my prayer is just that–for God to keep my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking lies. And being true to His Word, God has kept me from situations where I’d have to say something untrue, vile, flattering or make promises that I can’t keep. The psalmist tells us that in order to enjoy life, we must learn to control our tongue. If you’re struggling to control your tongue, I encourage you to pray this simple prayer and watch what God will do.

A life well lived is a result of a tongue well controlled.
