“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the LORD Almighty. — Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)
A friend once shared how God used a difficult weakness in her life to teach her dependence on Him. I call it a “limp” — that ongoing reminder that we cannot walk through life in our own strength.
The truth is, we all have a limp of some kind — a condition, struggle, or circumstance that keeps us reliant on God. Scripture reminds us again and again that without the Holy Spirit, those called by God could not accomplish what He asked of them. There would be no Church without Him, and He is the reason it still stands today.
Pentecost reminds us that our strength comes from Him alone.

Every day, God reminds me how much I need Him. When pride occasionally creeps in, it doesn’t take long for me to realize how weak and incapable I am apart from His Spirit. Zechariah 4:6 has become my life verse because I know without a doubt that I need the Holy Spirit to empower and strengthen me to live the Christian life and fulfill the work God has entrusted to me.
He is the reason I rise with the Son.
