Seldom Early but Never Late

There’s a quote that says, “God is seldom early, but He is never late.” We find that true of the following stories in the Gospels. Jesus showed up after…

-Lazarus was dead for 4 days;
-Jairus’ 12 year-old daughter had died;
-the widow’s son was dead;
-the woman had spent all her money on doctors who couldn’t find a cure for her 12 year-old bleeding issue;
-the woman who had been crippled for 18 years;
-the paralytic who couldn’t walk for 38 years;
-at the ‘fourth watch of the night’ when the disciples were in the boat battling a storm

To the people in those stories, and us reading them today, it might seem like He was late, but He proved them, and us, wrong. He gave them more than a healing. He gave them a miracle and the ability to believe that He is who He claimed to be all along-the Son of God, the Great I Am. Their stories are there to encourage us to believe in the same Jesus, who shows up when all hope seems gone, the Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is seldom early, but He is never late.
