You’re Not Alone

At my first trial no one supported me [as an advocate] or stood with me, but they all deserted me. May it not be counted against them [by God]. But the Lord stood by me and strengthened and empowered me, so that through me the [gospel] message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear it; and I was rescued from the mouth of the lion.

(2 Timothy 4:16-17 AMP)

Has there ever been a time when you felt alone? I have, and from today’s reading, it’s clear that the apostle Paul did too. During a crucial time in his life, he felt abandoned by everyone he knew, except, of course, by the Lord Himself. Jesus stood by Paul, strengthening and empowering him. I believe that this is what made Paul willing to forgive his so-called friends and companions who had deserted him when he needed them the most. He didn’t hold a grudge against them. After all, he could count on the One who had promised to be by his side to the very end (Acts 23:11). So the next time you feel alone, remember that there’s Someone who is standing by you, strengthening and empowering you. You’re not alone.

I am not alone I am not alone You will go before me You will never leave me. –Kari Jobe
