But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
(1 Corinthians 15:20 NIV)
It was all over the news: Jesus’ tomb had been found. But I wasn’t at all taken aback by this new “discovery.” It wasn’t the first time that someone had attempted to shake the foundations of the Christian faith. In fact, Paul’s letter to the Corinthians years ago suggests that the issue of the resurrection was still being questioned. So Paul, who had met the resurrected Jesus himself, settled the matter once and for all: “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” I’d much rather believe Paul than someone who has never seen Jesus.
Jesus is alive and well.
