Christ’s Resurrection Power

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

(Romans 8:11 NIV)

A few years ago, I started making Philippians 3:10-11 my daily prayer, “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” Not long after, God began to answer that prayer, but not without reminding me of the need to die to self and sin and the hardships that come from choosing the narrow road. That is why, like Paul, I can confidently write about Christ’s resurrection power; why I truly believe that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. For those who question the miracle of the resurrection and need proof, you need only look at a Christian who has been through a lot, but like Jesus, rises again, and in turn, is able to bring those who are dying in their struggles back to life as well.

“Heal the sick, raise the dead… Freely you have received; freely give.” – Jesus (Matthew 10:8)
