Very early the next morning, the king got up and hurried out to the lions’ den. When he got there, he called out in anguish, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?”
(Daniel 6:19-20 NLT)
Even after hearing about the king’s irrational decree that anyone who prays to anyone besides the the king is to be thrown in the lions’ den (v.7), Daniel made up his mind to continue to pray to the Lord, as he usually did (v.10). When thrown in the lions’ den, the king asked Daniel a question that’s typical of everyone who has ever watched us serve God faithfully, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?” In other words, “Did God reward your faithfulness to Him?” God rewarded Daniel’s faithfulness by rescuing him from the lions. God is still looking to reward people who are faithful to Him. Will He find such people today?
God rewards faithfulness in unimaginable ways.
