Be God’s Mouthpiece

“Well, I have come to you now,” Balaam replied. “But I can’t say whatever I please. I must speak only what God puts in my mouth.”

(Numbers 22:38 NIV)

The Moabite King, Balak, had summoned Balaam the prophet to come and place a curse on the Israelites, who had settled in his land. However, God had a different plan. He wanted Balaam to bless them instead. What I like about Balaam is his determination to say only what God wanted him to say. I remember a time when I had made up my mind about what I was going to say about a particular situation. Then after spending time in prayer, I felt that God didn’t want me to say what I had planned to say. In fact, I felt that I shouldn’t say anything at all, and I’m glad that I didn’t. Therefore, whenever I’m faced with a situation that requires my input, I’ve made it a habit that I’ll only say what God would want me to say.

Say only what God would want you to say.
