“Not one of all the LORD’S good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”
(Joshua 21:45 NIV)
If you read the book of Joshua, the book of conquest, you will find that God’s people had to play a part in establishing themselves in the Promised Land. They had to go out and conquer land for themselves. And in the last verse in Joshua chapter 21, which is one of my favourite Scriptures, we’re reminded that God was true to His Word in giving Israel land, but they had to be active in pursuing it.
God’s promises haven’t failed, but we fail to believe and claim them and that is why they’re not fulfilled in our lives yet. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37). Through Him, we can live to see His fulfilled promises for our lives. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20).
