In his Gospel, John tells us that a prominent Jewish teacher named Nicodemus was eager to meet Jesus, but because he was afraid of losing his social status, he came to see Jesus at night (John 3:1-11). There are people who are just like Nicodemus. They will like and admire you from far because they’re afraid of being seen with you.
When Jesus died, Nicodemus was no longer afraid to be identified with Him. He brought herbs to anoint Jesus’ body. “Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds” (John 19:39 NIV).
Don’t be a Nicodemus. Don’t wait until it is too late to tell and show people that you love them because nothing you do after they’re gone is going to compensate for it.
