Small and Humble

Finally, he appeared to me, even though I am like someone who was born at the wrong time. I am the least important of all the apostles. In fact, I caused so much trouble for God’s church that I don’t even deserve to be called an apostle.

(1 Corinthians 15:8-9 CEV)

The most well known apostle and contributor to the Christian faith, Paul (formerly known as Saul), apparently didn’t think so highly of himself. In fact, the name Paul means “small” or “little.” Today’s passage suggests that Paul’s name was a constant reminder to him that he was “the least important of all the apostles.” It was a reminder to remain humble in spite of God’s awesome work in his life. It’s so easy to get sidetracked and lose sight of who we truly are. It’s my prayer that like Paul, we, too, will do our best to maintain a humble attitude.

Do your best to maintain a humble attitude.
