Jesus: The Resurrection and the Life

Jesus said to [Martha], “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26 NIV)

Prior to resurrecting Lazarus from the dead, Jesus told his grieving sister, Martha, that He is the Resurrection and the Life. Or as someone put it, “Resurrection is what Jesus specializes in because Resurrection is who He is!” So when we speak of the resurrection, of life, we’re talking about Jesus. He is the only One who can bring the dead back to life. No matter what we’ve been through, Jesus is able to help us rise again. After all, it’s who He is. Jesus not only brought the dead to life, but He also came back to life. There’s no one else I would trust than the One who made a claim to be the Resurrection and the Life and proved it. But now, more than ever, we need to believe in Him in order to experience our own resurrection.
