I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. (John 17:11 NIV)

Jesus lived His time on earth knowing that it was a round trip, one that would cost Him dearly. He would soon return to Heaven, where He had come from (John 3:13). But the Son of God spent His time wisely. It took Him three years to make a difference in the world and His influence hasn’t ceased 2,000 years later. We, on the other hand, live longer but fail to make any difference in the world we live in today, and are fortunate enough if we’re remembered at all. How are we investing our time and energy for the kingdom of God? Jesus not only set an example for us to follow, but also prayed for us to follow through with it. “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom,” prayed Moses (Psalm 90:12). May our lives leave an imprint on all who come to know us.
