Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.” (John 11:23-28 NIV)

Sadly, there are many Christians who, like Martha, believe that the resurrection is something we’ll experience at Christ’s second coming. Thankfully, Jesus corrected this partial belief. As His followers, we have the wonderful privillege of experiencing the power of the resurrection now. Whenever we conquer whatever was meant to kill us, we rise again. As the familiar saying goes, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Faith in Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life, allowed Martha to witness this truth, and if we believe that Jesus is who He says He is, we, too, can know the power of His resurrection.
