Speak Life!

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

(Matthew 10:8 NIV)

I was reading Matthew 10, when the Lord brought the above Scripture to my attention, especially the part about raising the dead to life. So many around us are dying mentally, emotionally, spiritually (and yes, physically). They’re looking for the same resurrection power that raised us from the dead (anything that could kill us mentally, emotionally and spiritually). Jesus told His disciples-and us today-that we can share that resurrection power with them. Whenever we speak life to them as we share Jesus, the Living Word and the Life, speaking His Words of life to them and over them, we’re bringing them back to life. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov.18:21). In the Valley of Dry Bones, the prophet Ezekiel was commanded to speak life over the dry bones and watched them come to life (Ezek.37:1-14).

While God doesn’t expect us to bring the physically dead back to life, He is calling each one of us to raise those who are hurting emotionally, mentally and spiritually back to life again. Sadly, there are those whose words have pierced others, but we can be the ones whose words bring healing to their wounded souls. Speak life!
