So although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, he stayed where he was for the next two days. Finally, he said to his disciples, “Let’s go back to Judea.”
(John 11:5-7 NLT)
When Lazarus got sick, his sisters Martha and Mary sent word to Jesus, asking Him to come. Jesus, however, purposefully chose to stay where He was for two more days. When He finally did go to Lazarus, the man had already died. When they saw the Lord, both sisters said to Him, “if only you had been here, my brother would not have died” (John 11:21, 32, NLT). Jesus then proceeded to the tomb to raise their brother. Here’s an important lesson that we can all learn while waiting on God. He may not show up when we expect Him to but when He does, it’s always in some amazing way. Lazarus didn’t just get a healing, he got a resurrection. Now that’s something worth waiting for. Wouldn’t you agree?
God moves at unexpected times and in unexpected ways.
