Stay Full

Be filled with the Spirit.

(Ephesians 5:18 NIV)

I don’t know about you, but I can’t drive a car with a gas tank half-full, let alone a gas tank below half-full! But my father and brother are of a different opinion. They both agree that a gas tank half-full can still take you places, and for many days at that, they claim. In fact, if I did drive their cars, I was told not to fill up the gas tank, until I was desperate I suppose. Once while driving my brother’s car, the low fuel light came on. You can imagine my anxiety. Thankfully, there was a gas station nearby (and yes, my brother didn’t argue with me ever again after that incident!).

If we’re not careful, our relationship with God can begin to run on low fuel as well. Lack of time spent in the Word, prayer and worship, can empty us of the power we need to walk in Christ-likeness. There will be indicators, such as loss of joy and peace in our lives, to remind us that we’re running out of energy. Thankfully, we’re not left stranded. In God’s presence, we can be filled with His Spirit, the Power we need to keep going. If your relationship with God is at the empty or perhaps it’s still at the half-full mark, run to Him and make sure that you’re filled again, and stay full.

God’s Spirit is the spiritual fuel that keeps us going.
