And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
(Hebrews 11:6 NIV)
If faith is the key we need to unlock the doors we must pass through in life, not many of us would get on the other side. We can’t come to God and expect Him to answer our prayers if we’re not willing to believe that He can and He will (just not on our time or terms).
It’s been almost a year since my twin nephews were born three months early. Although these words were not spelled out in bold print, I know it’s exactly what God expected as I passed through those NICU doors: “Only faith beyond this point.” I can’t expect God to work a miracle if I’m not willing to believe in one. Thankfully, God continues to strengthen our faith in Him when we’re willing to trust Him. The twins’ progress never ceased to amaze the doctors and nurses who worked with them. I often tell people who are praying and believing that God is moving in a mighty way in the babies’ lives in answer to their prayers.
I’m not sure what door you’re waiting to pass through right now. All I know is that God expects you to trust that He is able to do great things on the other side of it.
