The Source of Joy

You will fill me with joy in your presence.

(Psalm 16:11 NIV)

God is truly our source of joy. Every time I run out of joy, I know exactly where to get it refilled again–by being in His presence. I slip away to a quiet place where I can be alone with Him, to talk and listen to Him. Each time I do this, I walk away with a renewed sense of joy and purpose. I don’t know what fills you with joy, but I’ve learned that only God can fill me with joy in a way that nothing and no one else can. The psalmist, too, discovered this when he wrote, “You will fill me with joy in your presence.” Not maybe, but will fill me. Linger in His presence long enough and you, too, will walk away knowing that He has filled you with joy. His joy is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

God’s presence fills us with joy.
