When they opened their eyes, they saw only Jesus.
(Matthew 17:8 CEV)
After the dramatic experience on the mountain, the curtain was closed and the disciples saw not Moses or Elijah, the most revered Old Testament prophets, but Jesus. Prior to this, the disciples’ eyes had gazed on the magnificent scene of all three men on the mountain. However, God wanted them to set their eyes only on His Son. Like any lover, God wants us to have eyes only for Him. When our eyes become fixed on people or things, He’ll find a way to get us to look at Him again. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
We can only see Jesus when everything else fades away.
