The Voice

And the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”

(Luke 3:22 NLT)

How reassuring that voice must have been! Jesus was about to begin His public ministry, and more than anything, He needed to hear the Father’s encouraging voice. Jesus would again hear the voice from heaven on the Mount of Transfiguration, and in the Temple area during His final week (Luke 9:35; John 12:28). Clearly, the voice was there from the beginning to the end, and it’s the only one that Jesus needed to hear. In fact, He tuned to it often. The Father’s voice can still be heard, and if His voice was the only one that Jesus needed in order to press on, it’s all we need too.

Tune in to the voice of God.
