“Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!”
(Daniel 3:25 NLT)
When the three Hebrews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, refused to bow down to the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, they were thrown into a fiery furnace. But to his surprise, the king saw four men walking in the fire and described the fourth man as “a god.” The truth of the matter is that God walks beside us. It is He who reminds us, “When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze” (Isaiah 43:2 NIV). In this world, we’re not exempt from the fiery circumstances that threaten to consume us. And while God may not necessarily put out the fire, He promises to walk with us through it and deliver us from it. On more than one occasion, I’ve felt His presence during times of danger, and like the three Hebrews, I’ve walked away unharmed. He walks beside you too.
God walks beside us all the time.
