Praying for Our Cities

Forgive us! Hurry and do something, not only for your city and your chosen people, but to bring honor to yourself.

(Daniel 9:19 CEV)

From the window that overlooked the Sin City, I prayed. In fact, I made it my goal to pray for the city during my short stay there, using Daniel chapter nine as a blueprint. When Daniel found out from studying the Scriptures that Jerusalem would lie in ruins for seventy years, he prayed for the city and the people. He confessed his sins and the sins of the people and begged God to do something. And the Bible tells us that at the very moment Daniel began to pray, God heard his prayer. Our cities may not be labelled “sinful” per se, but they’re still in need of prayer and for His name’s sake, God will hear and answer.

Pray for your city.
