Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude.
Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil.
Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting.
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7 CEV)
A pastor once challenged his congregation to replace the word “love” in the above passage with their name to see if they’d pass the love self-test. “If you find that you lack or fall short of certain areas,” he said, “ask God to help you get there.” See, only Jesus perfectly meets all of the characteristics of love mentioned in First Corinthians chapter thirteen. See for yourself:
Jesus is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude.
Jesus isn’t selfish or quick tempered.
He doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do.
Jesus rejoices in the truth, but not in evil.
Jesus is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting.
And because only He meets them, He can help us pass the ultimate love test.
Only Jesus can help us pass the ultimate love test.
