Confess Your Mess

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

(1 John 1:9 NIV)

After a discussion on the topic of sin, a student determined that she wasn’t going to sin once she left the classroom. The teacher reminded her that it would be impossible, but the student was still convinced that she could do it. Doubtless, the girl’s efforts were in vain. We all sin, whether we want to or not, and God understands that. That’s why the Bible assures us that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Confessing our sins to God, agreeing with Him that what we did was wrong, restores our broken relationship with Him. “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). So confess and be at rest.

Don’t hide your sins. Confess them.
