“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great
locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust
swarm—my great army that I sent among you.”
(Joel 2:25 NIV)
In response to Judah’s unfaithfulness, God sent a swarm of locusts to destroy the land for a number of years. However, with repentance also came the promise that He would make up for the years that the locusts had been allowed to damage the land. Today, God still promises to restore what has been damaged by sin and evil. He promises to give us “double for our trouble,” as some have nicely put it. He’ll bless us with twice as much as we had before. The Lord kept His promise to Judah and He’ll keep His promise to us. He is trustworthy.
God gives us double for our trouble.
