Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
(Matthew 8:3 NIV)
I came across this “touch-me-not” plant at work a few years ago. I accidentally touched it and due to its highly sensitive nature its compound leaves folded inward and drooped, which is their way of defending themselves from harm. They re-opened a few minutes later. A colleague who had brought the plant is the one who pointed out what had happened. I couldn’t help but remark, “This plant reminds me of so many people I know.” We both had a good laugh about it.
When you really think about it there are many sensitive people out there who cannot be “touched” by anyone in any way, not even by God Himself. The slightest thing can make them lose their peace and joy. I laugh about it now, but I used to be like that. But thank God that’s not who I am anymore and that’s not who you have to be either. Don’t shy away from God’s touch. It will change your life for the better!
