I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
(Ezekiel 11:19-20 NIV)
Isn’t it encouraging that God is in charge of changing us? God knows that as humans, we’ll never be able to achieve that on our own no matter how hard we try. In today’s verse, God promised to change the captive Israelites in Babylon who had constantly disobeyed and rebelled against Him. The Apostle Paul also made a similar declaration, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). God is changing us little by little, but He is changing us. As Joyce Meyer would say, “I’m not where I need to be but thank God I’m not where I used to be.”
God is constantly changing us.
