My Type of Music

And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

(Romans 16:20 AMPC)

I love to sing about God’s love and goodness in my life, but for a long time, spiritual warfare has been my type of music. You know, songs about warfare and victory which talk about God’s power and Satan’s final outcome. I don’t think we sing enough about the fact that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us, and the God of peace who will soon crush Satan under our feet (see Romans 8:37, 16:20). It is not surprising that there are many Christians who live defeated lives. They’ve forgotten who they truly are—soldiers fighting against evil who are guaranteed victory through Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57). Because yes, good always wins in the end!

I love living a life of victory and oftentimes, it’s been a battle song that has gotten me through my weakest moment. I know the devil hates it and flees when I remind him that I’m an overcomer because He who is in me is greater (1 John 4:4). I realize that the more I fight the enemy in this way, the fierce the battle becomes. But you know what, I love that feeling! So as you worship God today, go ahead and tell Him how wonderful and good He is, because He is worthy of our praise! But don’t forget to remind the enemy of who you are in Christ and of where he’s headed. You’ll walk out stronger than ever.

“What has defeated me in the past does not get to define me in the future…all because of Jesus.”
