The LORD said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.”

No man or woman can stand unfaithfulness, and neither does God. When I read the story of Hosea and his adulterous wife, Gomer, and how God told him to take her back, I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. She doesn’t deserve a second chance, I thought to myself. Then it hit me–isn’t this how God treats us in spite of our unfaithfulness to Him? While not many men or women would be willing to take back an unfaithful spouse, God is willing to take His wayward children back. One of my favourite verses says, “If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is” (2 Timothy 2:13 NLT). Just as Hosea continued to love unfaithful Gomer, God will continue to love us.
God is faithful even when we’re not.
