“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’“ And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”
(Matthew 25:37-40 NLT)
It had been a tiring week and that weekend, I still needed to look after a sick relative. As I was approaching their house, I was reminded of the words of Jesus, “when you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters, you were doing it for me.” With that in mind, I felt refreshed and eager to serve as I made my way inside. Being aware of the fact that whenever we serve someone we’re actually serving the Lord Himself, will change our attitude towards serving others. It will help us to press on with a cheerful attitude. Think of Jesus the next time you serve someone.
We serve God when serve His children.
