Finding Strength in God

David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.

(1 Samuel 30:6 NIV)

While reading First Samuel chapter 30, I found myself drawn to the last sentence in verse six, “But David found strength in the LORD his God.” I could relate to David because like him, there were many times when God’s strength had pulled me up from the despair that everyone else was experiencing. You can probably relate too. Even though everyone around you might be discouraged, you somehow find the strength to encourage them. It is the strength of God that lifts you up and those around you.

God’s strength pulls us up when everything else pulls us down.
