“As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.”
(1 Chronicles 14:15 NIV)
In First Chronicles 14, the Philistines come twice to attack David, the newly appointed king over all Israel, and both times, the Lord gives him the battle plans for success. What’s amazing about both battles is that the Lord is the One who fights them. After defeating the Philistines the first time David says, “As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand.” So that place was called Baal Perazim [the Lord who breaks out]”’ (1 Chronicles 14:11). In the second battle, the Lord is described as marching out with His heavenly host to fight the Philistines. Today, no matter what you’re facing, be encouraged knowing that God is in charge of your battles. He’ll fight them for you.
God fights our battles for us.
