By My Spirit

Then he said to me, “This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.”

(Zechariah 4:6 NLT)

The temple was being rebuilt, but would it look as glorious as it had once been? With no king from David’s family, and Judah only a small part of the Medo-Persian Empire, could the work really get done? The Lord encouraged Zerubbabel, the governor, to rebuild the temple, reminding him that it’s not by human might or power that the work would get done, but by the Spirit of Almighty God. Many Christians have come to apply these words to their own circumstances, and they’re right to do so because these words weren’t meant only for Zerubbabel, but for everyone else whom God has called. With the Spirit’s help, Zerubbabel was able to rebuild the temple of God, and we can complete what God has assigned us to do as well.

Don’t rely on your might or power, but on God’s Spirit.
